Why we all need intimacy in our family relationships – and how to get there // Episode 23

Meaningful relationships don’t happen without intimacy. We limit ourselves when we think only about intimacy in our marriages, physical intimacy that happens behind our bedroom doors. Sure, that’s part of it! But family relationships all require intimacy. If we want to be a purposeful parent and develop close relationships with our kids, we must build intimacy.

There are two big struggles with intimacy: understanding it and building it. So in today’s episode, we are looking at 4 different types of intimacy. And then, we’ll talk about how to build intimacy into our family lives, how to create an intimacy and meaningful home life, even when life is busy and overwhelming.

Episode Show Notes

Intimacy is not just reserved for the bedroom. In fact, intimacy is not just reserved for the marriage relationship or another romantic relationship.

Nope!

Every deep, meaningful, purposeful relationship must have intimacy. We must be vulnerable with each other. We must know each other well and share life together. We share our thoughts, our hearts, our dreams, and our struggles.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear me outline four types of intimacy that we need in our family relationships. These 4 types of intimacy include:

  • Physical intimacy
  • Emotional intimacy
  • Spiritual intimacy (with God and with others)
  • Mental/Intellectual intimacy

Each is necessary for a deep relationship. And isn’t that what you want with your family?
